Serving the Barrington Area Community

Barrington Youth & Family Services (BYFS) is a community-based, non-profit social service agency, providing comprehensive individual, family, youth and couples counseling, youth outreach and prevention programming for Barrington area youth and their families.

BYFS provides counseling to children, families, couples, and adults in a safe and confidential environment. It is our goal to help our community through difficult life circumstances including: depression, anxiety, grief/loss issues, trauma, stress, substance abuse, suicidal ideation, and self-harm.

We recognize the significance of providing each person and family with emotional support as well as helping them develop tools to cope. BYFS conducts outreach and prevention programming on topics surrounding: peer mentorship, substance abuse, social skills development, and Latino services. We strongly believe that by helping children and families, we build the strength of our entire community.

BYFS’ service boundaries coincide with Barrington School District 220, including portions of Cook, Lake, McHenry and Kane counties, and Barrington, Cuba, Dundee and Ela townships. BYFS collaborates with local government, schools and community leaders to design programs that address the specific issues and needs of Barrington area families, as well as identify and respond to new issues as they emerge.

BYFS offers counseling and mental health assessments to address a wide-range of psychological symptoms, including at-risk behaviors. Call 847-381-0345 for an appointment. Most insurance plans are accepted, sliding fee scale is available. BYFS offices are conveniently located one block south of Barrington High School.
